Alejandro Delgado Tarin Recipient of the 2021 GCCA Europe Cold Chain Future Leader Award

The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) is proud to announce Alejandro Delgado Tarin, Solutions & Project Manager, Europe at AGRO Merchants Group (part of Americold Logistics LLC) as the recipient of the 2021 GCCA Europe Cold Chain Future Leader Award. The award was presented during the competition final held on 28 September.

"I am immensely proud to be recognized as a future leader in an industry that plays such a critical role in the movement of perishable products and product safety worldwide,” said Delgado. “It was an honor to take part in the award competition with so many brilliant counterparts and I enjoyed the experience very much.”

The GCCA Future Leader Award recognises talented young professionals who have the potential to become future leaders and make a positive contribution to the development of the global temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics industry. Among other eligibility requirements for the award, candidates have to demonstrate excellence in their work, the potential to excel further in the many facets within the industry, and possess insight into their organisation’s strategic values and direction, policies, and ways of working.

Delgado competed for the award with Shane Meharg of Magnavale, England and Chris Smith of AGRO Merchants Group, Northern Ireland. The three finalists qualified out of a group of eight candidates from various countries across Europe and involved in various areas of the business. As part of the selection process, each candidate was interviewed and judged by a panel of industry leaders from across Europe. Candidates were evaluated on their knowledge level of the industry, track record of excellence, communication skills, and leadership skills. In addition, each candidate delivered a short presentation during the competition final.

“It is encouraging to see the quality talent our industry possesses,” commented Julie Hanson, GCCA’s Director of Europe. “GCCA is committed to recognising these cold chain professionals and supporting their industry development in multiple ways: not only does the European winner get the opportunity to compete for GCCA’s Global NextGen Award, but they also get to participate in GCCA’s European Logistics Council for a year as Observer, interact with other young professionals as well as senior cold chain leaders through the GCCA network.”

Alejandro Delgado will compete with other young leaders from around the world for the 2021 GCCA Global NextGen Award later this year. The 2022 Europe Future Leader Award will take place during the 25th GCCA European Cold Chain Conference scheduled on 23-25 March in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
