Carrier Transicold Selected as Sole Supplier for Riverside Truck Rental’s All New Refrigerated Fleet

Riverside Truck Rental – a member company of NRG Fleet Services – has entered into the refrigerated truck segment, specifying Carrier Transicold equipment for all 18 vehicles comprising its new rental fleet.

The new refrigerated fleet is made up of three 7.5-tonne and three 13-tonne Isuzu rigid chassis fitted with Carrier Transicold Xarios 600 units and mounted to Gray & Adams bodies, alongside six 18-tonne DAF LFs and six 26-tonne IVECO Stralis rigids, all featuring Carrier Transicold Supra 1150 MT (multi-temperature) systems and Paneltex refrigerated bodies.

“We have been working with Carrier for many years on behalf of our contract hire customers, so we knew we would be getting the quality, reliability and service support we needed for this new venture,” said Paul Evans, National Rental Manager at Riverside Truck Rental. “The refrigerated rental segment is uncharted territory for us, so we wanted to ensure we were offering our new customer base the very best, and the range of equipment Carrier can offer made them the obvious choice.”

The Xarios units mounted to the 7.5-tonne rigids are ideal for intensive, multi-drop operations. Capable of maintaining precise temperature set points, its advanced electronic controller and brushless fans help to ensure high reliability and a long product lifetime, while the system’s ultra-slim evaporators increase available load space, maximising the rental potential of each truck.

On the larger vehicles, Carrier Transicold’s powerful Supra system is able to provide constant airflow, independent of engine speed, offering operators rapid pull-down and accurate multi-temperature set point control. The flexible Supra units supply consistent frozen and chilled performance, also making them the ideal choice for high intensity delivery schedules.

Operating out of six depots across the UK, the new rental vehicles will be available for hire nationwide, and each vehicle is backed with a Carrier Transicold everCOLD maintenance contract to minimise downtime.

“Carrier’s extensive service partner network was also a major factor in our decision,” continues Evans. “As these are rental vehicles, they can conceivably end up operating anywhere in the UK, so having access to the largest national service network of any transport refrigeration equipment provider gives us the confidence we can deliver the best possible service to our customers.”
