Carrier Transicold, a global leader in transport refrigeration solutions, will provide a sneak peek of its latest products and service innovations at this year's Solutrans tradeshow (stand 4 A122), the global hub for heavy and light commercial vehicles. The event will take place at Eurexpo Lyon Nov. 16-20, 2021.
Carrier Transicold will present its European electric-powered solutions spanning all over-the-road transport cold chain segments, that reduce emissions, increase efficiency and advance the future of transport refrigeration.
The new Supra HE range
Carrier Transicold will introduce its new Supra HE range for straight trucks. Designed for the urban retail distribution sector, this range aims to provide more powerful, energy-efficient and compact solutions thanks to its new semi-electric refrigeration system.
The Supra refrigeration units for trucks continues its extension with high-efficiency models. The new range architectural design, components and structure offer efficiency, performance, reliability and improved maintenance operations. The Supra HE range is made up of five new models of semi-electric refrigeration units, available in four different versions (standard, silent, Nordic and road only). The first single-temperature units will be delivered before the end of 2021.
The new Supra range delivers up to 53%1 improvement in energy performance in comparison with the standard range models. It can consume up to 41%1 less fuel than the previous range, for lower pollutant emissions. Carrier Transicold's high efficiency products contribute to Carrier's goal of reducing its customers' carbon footprint by one gigaton as part of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals for 2030.
Raising the unit height by a few centimetres makes it a perfect fit for taller cabs or lower bodies and better suited to deliveries in urban environments. Tested under extreme operating conditions, in environments with outdoor temperatures ranging between -30 C and +55 C, the units are designed to be highly reliable.
Smaller, lighter and more ergonomic, the new range offers a high level of compatibility with tractors’ cabin and boxes various models and configuration and it eases the vehicle cab to be tilted for maintenance. Thanks to the easy access to components the maintenance operations are faster and easier to perform and comply with the highest safety protocols. The new Supra HE unit has a more efficient maintenance interval of 2,000 hours, an increase of 1,000 hours when compared to the legacy Supra unit. This provides customers more unit uptime and a lower cost to maintain the unit.
All the units in the Supra HE range are compatible with Carrier Transicold's LynxTM Fleet digital telematics platform. The new Supra HE range is part of Carrier's healthy, safe, sustainable cold chain programme to preserve and protect the supply of food, medicine and vaccines.
These innovative solutions deliver refrigeration solutions that are both environmentally responsible and cost effective.
"Faced with the increasing number of regulations and restrictions on vehicle traffic, Carrier Transicold made the decision in 2015 to formally set out its environmental commitments in a charter based on four pillars: reducing CO2 and fine particle emissions, limiting noise pollution to less than 60 decibels and ensuring the best possible energy efficiency. Carrier is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our customers by a gigaton by 2030. The new products we are presenting at Solutrans correspond to these key commitments," said Jean-Pascal Vielfaure, Managing Director for France and Southern Europe, Carrier Transicold.
Visitors can discover the world’s first fully autonomous and electrical refrigeration system for trailers, the Vector eCool, as well as engineless refrigeration units such as the Vector HE19, Syberia 14 and the Iceland Twincool 14. Alternative energy sources to power units also will be displayed. Carrier Transicold will unveil the Eco-DriveTM T, a new hydroelectric module for straight trucks, semi-trailers and direct-drive units as well as the inverter "power box" energy converter box.
"The refrigeration solutions we provide meet ambitious targets. They reflect our desire to offer an all-electric solution to every segment of the cold chain logistics sector. The entire Carrier Transicold team is excited and eager to present these innovations at Solutrans," said Vielfaure.
Driven by the commitment to continue developing innovative and eco-responsible solutions, Carrier Transicold is collaborating with Bosch, Lamberet and STEF to launch a hydrogen fuel cell refrigeration system for trailer transport refrigeration, the FresH2 project. Back from its road test, the unit will be exhibited at Lamberet’s display, stands 4 D121 and 4 D11 in hall 4.
The Vector S15 single-temperature refrigeration unit
In addition, Carrier Transicold will present its new Vector S15 semi-trailer refrigeration unit, part of its solutions for the long-haul sector. The "S" stands for smart and simple, since this new addition to the semi-trailer range meets the needs of transport companies seeking a high-performance, efficient, easy-to-maintain system from long-distance to urban environment.
“The Vector S15 single-temperature refrigeration unit was designed to meet the needs of transport companies looking for an efficient, economical and easy-to-maintain refrigeration system, suitable for both long-distance journeys and inter-city deliveries,” said Pablo Martinez, Sales Director-EMEA, Carrier Transicold. “The ‘S’ represents smart, semi-electric and simple operation.”
This semi-electric solution supports Carrier’s aim to reduce its customers’ carbon footprint by one gigaton, part of its 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Goals. The new Vector S15 unit offers 15 kilowatts of cooling capacity and a multi-speed diesel engine, which is designed to reduce fuel consumption. In addition, the open architecture of the Vector S15 makes maintenance more convenient given the ease of part access that helps keep workshop downtime to a minimum.
The Vector S15 is the lightest trailer model in this market segment (700 kg) and one of the quietest in the Carrier Transicold semi-trailer range in its standard version (71 dB(A) in high speed, down to 62 dB(A) in low speed). Previewed at Solutrans, the Vector S15 will be available in two versions, one diesel engine only and another including standby mode (first quarter 2022).
In the light commercial vehicle range, Carrier Transicold will showcase several models including the Pulsor and Neos HE 200 S models compatible with battery packs and the new Xarios 5, 6 and 8 multitemperature models.
Carrier Transicold will also highlight its new Lynx Fleet telematics, as well as its BluEdge tiered-service offerings. With over 600 service centres, including nearly 60 in mainland France, Carrier Transicold offers the largest service network in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Russia.
