Carrier Transicold Supra 1150 MT Units Added By Williamson Foodservice

Williamson Foodservice has taken delivery of two new trucks, each mounted with a powerful Carrier Transicold Supra 1150 MT (multi-temperature) unit. Based in Inverness, the new vehicles strengthen Williamson Foodservice’s 40-strong commercial fleet and will carry out demanding delivery operations across northern Scotland.

Williamson Foodservice has been specifying Carrier Transicold refrigeration units for more than 19 years, with the latest Supra 1150 MT units mounted to new 18-tonne Volvo FE rigid chassis, fitted with Gray & Adams bodies.

“With Carrier, we know we’re getting refrigerated units that will just get the job done, without any fuss – it’s this level of reliability and performance that has kept us coming back for nearly 20 years,” said Gary Williamson, managing director, Williamson Foodservice. “Our trucks often operate on multi-drop delivery routes stretching in excess of 200 miles and are on the road all day, so it’s vital we have total faith in their ability to deliver our produce in exactly the same condition as it was when it was loaded.”

The Supra 1150 MT unit offers Williamson Foodservice the ideal solution for its delivery routes across the Scottish Highlands, providing constant airflow – independent of engine speed – that supplies rapid pull-down and pin-point accurate multi-temperature set point control. The two new vehicles will be in operation up to five days a week, delivering both frozen and chilled produce, covering around 100,000 miles a year.

“We understand that we push both the trucks and fridges pretty hard. Thankfully, we also get great support from Carrier’s service partner network, so if there ever is a problem, we can rely on them to get us back out on the road quickly and efficiently,” adds Williamson.

The company’s commercial vehicle fleet is equally split between light-commercials and medium trucks, including Volkswagen Crafter vans and Volvo and DAF rigids ranging from 7.5 to 18-tonnes. The two new assets have been purchased outright by the company and are expected to stay in operation for five years.

Established more than 60 years ago as a fresh fruit and vegetable distributor, Williamson Foodservice is today a full-service wholesaler. The company, which has additional depots in Glasgow and Stornoway, has an ever-growing product range which includes dairy, drinks, dry store and delicatessen.
