Launched in October, the Vector eCool unit is the first fully autonomous, all-electric, engineless refrigerated transport system for semi-trailers. Combining Carrier Transicold's all-electric E-Drive technology with a new state-of-the-art energy recovery and storage system, it converts the kinetic energy generated by the semi-trailer vehicle into electricity, which is then stored in a battery pack to power the refrigeration unit. This loop creates a fully self-sustaining virtuous system that produces no direct carbon dioxide (CO2) or particulate emissions.
Benefits of the Vector eCool unit include:
- 100% electric unit produces no direct CO2 or particulate emissions.
- PIEK-compliant with operating noise is below 60 dB(A).
- Fully rechargeable in four hours when plugged into the electric grid.
- “We are very honored to receive this award for our new fully electric and autonomous Vector eCool unit, which is helping to address major environmental challenges facing cities,” said Jean-Pascal Vielfaure, Southern European Director, Carrier Transicold. “We are committed to supporting our refrigerated transport customers by providing them with healthy, safe and sustainable solutions.”
