GCCA Receives 2024 Power of Associations Gold Award for Cold Chain Institute Program

The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) has been honored with the Power of Associations Gold Award by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for its impactful Cold Chain Institute initiative.

The Cold Chain Institute, operated by the Global Cold Chain Foundation (GCCF) for the past 60 years, has trained thousands of professionals in the safe and efficient movement of perishable goods through the supply chain. This program offers invaluable learning opportunities from industry experts and peers, and has become essential for developing vital talent within companies.

Over a span of three years, participants from around the world attend three-day sessions covering topics such as cold chain management, customer service, employee safety, food safety, warehouse and transportation operations, and leadership development. The program not only enhances professional skills but also provides networking opportunities, enabling students to forge relationships with peers and mentors. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, recognizing their advanced skills in the industry.

In 2024, the Cold Chain Institutes have taken place in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.), Tempe, Arizona (U.S.), Melbourne, Australia, and Mexico City, Mexico, bringing together over 600 professionals. Over 160 participants completed the three-year program, marking one of the most successful years for the Institute. Upcoming sessions are scheduled in São Paulo, Brazil in August and Rotterdam, Netherlands in September, marking the first time these locations will host the program.

ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE, praised GCCA's efforts: “Congratulations to GCCA for exemplifying the impact associations have on the industries and professions they represent, and on society at large. It’s always incredibly satisfying to see associations going above and beyond their everyday mission to change the world. We’re very proud to spotlight this award-winning initiative.”

Adam Thocher, GCCF’s Executive Director, expressed his pride in the program's global success: “We are incredibly proud of the success the Cold Chain Institute has achieved globally and are excited about the growth and impact of this world-class program on the food supply chain industry. Our members consistently express the immense value the Institute brings to both their employees and their businesses. We are committed to continuing to expand and enhance the program as we approach its 60th anniversary in 2025.”

The recognition highlights GCCA's dedication to advancing the cold chain industry through education and professional development, ensuring the safe and efficient distribution of perishable goods worldwide.
