Nationwide Produce has bolstered its fleet with seven new Schmitz Cargobull S.KO COOL refrigerated semi-trailers to support its growing operations. These box-body trailers are built on a fully galvanised MODULOS chassis with a 10-year warranty against rust-through and are equipped with FERROPLAST panels, which offer enhanced strength while reducing weight compared to traditional glass-reinforced plastic alternatives.
The FERROPLAST technology combines high-performance insulation with a durable metal coating that prevents moisture absorption, ensuring optimal cooling performance and reduced energy consumption. This design also allows for easier and faster panel repairs, minimizing downtime.
Four of the newly acquired trailers are equipped with Dhollandia tail-lifts and will be based at the company’s depots in Evesham and Spalding. Their delivery was timed to avoid the need for additional trailer hires during the busy season.
Fitted with Thermo King refrigeration units, the tri-axle trailers will be used for multi-drop operations, delivering to regional distribution centers, wholesalers, food processors, and retail customers. After deliveries, the trailers collect fresh produce from growers, restocking Nationwide Produce’s depots for next-day distribution.
Each trailer is equipped with Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect telematics, which provides real-time monitoring of location and interior temperature. The system is integrated with Webfleet management software, enhancing operational efficiency and offering comprehensive data straight from the factory.
Nationwide Produce has continued to invest in Schmitz Cargobull trailers since establishing its in-house transport division in 2019, maintaining a fleet of around 60 trailers to ensure timely, nationwide delivery services.
