Schmitz Cargobull at the Transport Logistic 2019

Schmitz Cargobull consistently works to develop its trailers and services in order to offer its customers transport solutions that enhance both their cost efficiency, transparency and security:

The S.CS UNIVERSAL X-LIGHT curtainsider semi-trailer

The unladen weight of the already successful “light” curtainsider semi-trailer has been even further reduced through weight optimisations of the chassis combined with a new floor concept. The X-LIGHT curtainsider with the proven Schmitz Cargobull robustness offers an even higher payload thanks to its unladen weight beginning at 4,975 kilograms, making a positive economical and ecological contribution.

S.KO COOL SMART refrigerated box body with the S.CU cooling unit

The S.KO COOL SMART refrigerated box body has set new standards in the commercial vehicle sector: equipped with the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect telematics system as standard, it improves with the standard digital temperature recorder fleet transparency and efficiency through its numerous innovations. The new S.CU cooling unit represents a systematic enhancement of the entire system. A modern 19 kW common rail diesel engine now powers the cooling and heating in the refrigerated box bodies. This reduces the weight by 50 kg and the fuel consumption by up to 10 per cent in comparison to the predecessor. Another added positive is the reduced noise emission, which benefits both the drivers and the surrounding environment.

Schmitz Cargobull trailer telematics news

The experts from Schmitz Cargobull Telematics present new features for loading and cargo area optimisation, in particular for a refrigeration chain management. Two new functions support transport companies with monitoring and documenting door openings, offering additional security. With the TL3 keypad on the front side of the refrigerated box body, Schmitz Cargobull now provides a third option for opening and locking the rear door in addition to the TrailerConnect portal 2.0 and the TrailerConnect beSmart app.The keypad is connected directly to the CTU 3, the central TrailerConnect telematics unit, via a LIN bus connection. The telematics unit, in turn, controls the door locking system. Control via geo-fencing is another function of the Schmitz Cargobull door locking system. The door is automatically unlocked once the trailer enters a defined geographic area.

Many fleets now utilise multiple telematics systems. With TrailerConnect, Schmitz Cargobull offers interfaces to other telematics solutions to enable companies to work with just one portal. These interfaces enable telematics data from diverse trailer telematics systems to be transferred to and displayed in the TrailerConnect portal 2.0. This includes data from the cooling unit, the EBS drive along with information from the sensors.

New Schmitz Cargobull apps

Schmitz Cargobull makes monitoring loads and trailers even more efficient and transparent with two new apps. Users are informed in real time via push messages on their smartphone. Schmitz Cargobull has enhanced the TrailerConnect beSmart app specifically for drivers. The beSmart app displays all of the information, enabling drivers to monitor the trailer status at all times. The app connects to the CTU 3 telematics control unit wirelessly and can also control the door locking system and cooling unit. The trailer’s optional temperature printer can also be controlled directly from the app.

The new TrailerConnect is oriented on the needs of fleet managers and dispatchers. It informs all of the telematics portal users via smartphone about the current locations of their trailer fleet, downtimes and movement data. Schmitz Cargobull has transferred individual functions and views from the TrailerConnect portal 2.0 to the mobile application. One highlight of the beUpToDate app: The position of all or individual trailers is shown in real-time via Google maps.In addition, the app also provides information about the current status of the trailer such as temperature and cooling unit data, the tyre pressures, or axle loads. The integrated search and filter function ensures that users receive a clear overview.
