The Controlled Environment Building Association (CEBA) has announced Stellar and Maple Reinders Constructors Ltd as the winners of the 2024 Built By The Best Awards, recognizing innovation in controlled environment construction.

Stellar received the award for projects over $35 million for its 136,000-square-foot frozen food storage facility extension in Russellville, Arkansas, built for Americold Logistics. The facility includes advanced features such as an ammonia refrigeration system, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), and insulated metal panel walls, enhancing efficiency and reliability in frozen food logistics.

Maple Reinders was awarded in the category for projects under $35 million for a 160,000-square-foot multi-use facility in Ingersoll, Ontario, constructed for Dot Foods Canada. The project incorporates a sustainable CO2 refrigeration system, freezer and cooler storage, ambient spaces, and production areas, reflecting the company's commitment to innovative and sustainable design.

Finalists included Fisher Construction Group for Agile Cold Storage in Georgia and Primus Builders for RL Cold in South Carolina. Honorable mentions were given to Cubic 33, SINA, and Evans General Contractors for their respective projects in Chile, Quebec, and North Carolina.

The awards, presented during the CEBA Annual Conference and Expo in Florida, highlight excellence in controlled environment construction and the critical role of innovation in supporting the global cold chain industry. CEBA will feature finalists and honorable mentions throughout 2025 as part of its ongoing recognition program.
