A-Gas Plans For The U.S. to Ratify The Kigali Amendment

A-Gas, the world’s largest refrigerant recovery and reclamation company, is continuing to invest in technologies that play a vital role in the transition away from HFC refrigerants as outlined in the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. This amendment has been globally ratified and it is anticipated that US Officials will ratify in the near future. The Kigali amendment is the most recent addendum to the Montreal Protocol, originally adopted by 187 countries in 1987. The Montreal Protocol is a global agreement to reduce the production and use of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) found to destroy the stratospheric ozone layer.  This new amendment focuses on the reduction and phasedown of HFC’s (hydrofluorocarbons) to mitigate global warming. A-Gas US CEO Monte Roach commented “A-Gas has invested heavily in the future of the refrigerant industry by acquiring some strategic technologies to assist with the phasedown of ODS and global warming gases. The acquisition of the Rapid Recovery network in 2016, and our latest acquisition of Diversified Pure Chem expanded our Total Solutions offering to the market. We now have 5 fractional distillation towers across the US and our separation capabilities for mixed or cross contaminated refrigerants are the best in the nation. As reclamation becomes the standard for these gases A-Gas will be leading the charge and assisting customers with any regulatory changes or updates.” A-Gas has been instrumental in assisting with the implementation of the Montreal Protocol and has foresight into future regulations with its Global reach. “One benefit of being a global organization is the ability to have long range phasedown plans that have been proven to work in other regions. Several of our locations around the world are in countries where the phasedown schedules are ahead of the United States giving us the knowledge to be able to help our customers early in the game. We truly are the only organization that has a complete refrigerant lifecycle solution backed by global technologies and deep industry knowledge.”
