Worker shortages doubled between 2015 and 2021 in key green transition sectors. To address this issue, it is essential not only to upskill and reskill existing professionals but also to attract and train a significantly larger number of candidates, especially for technical jobs.
The European Heat Pump Association (EHPA), along with 11 other organizations, signed a letter addressed to the European Commission and Member States, highlighting the urgency of this matter.
The letter calls for Member States to assess the current skills gap and for the European Commission to launch a large-scale campaign to attract more people to energy efficiency-related jobs. These measures are mandated by EU law and must now be implemented to ensure Europe successfully transitions to a green economy and meets its sustainability goals.
