AIRAH’s Refrigeration 2019

The AIRAH Refrigeration 2019 conference will continue to expand on the topics presented and the discussions held in Sydney in 2018.

The conference will include sessions reviewing the latest developments in legislation and technology, as well as a multitude of industry-specific case studies. The conference trade display will give participants the opportunity during the breaks and cocktail functions to interact with leading industry suppliers on the latest refrigeration technology offerings.

AIRAH CEO Tony Gleeson, M.AIRAH, says the changes taking place in refrigeration make attendance at the conference compulsory for those seeking to stay abreast of the sector’s issues.

“The HFC phase-down is having a huge impact as the industry looks to switch to low-GWP refrigerants, and closely monitors the market,” Gleeson says.“At the same time we’ve seen refrigerant management highlighted as the no.1 solution to reverse global warming, which has brought mainstream attention to what is usually a specialist topic. We’re also accumulating better data on the refrigeration stock in Australia and identifying ways to make it more efficient. It’s an exciting time for the sector.”
Refrigeration 2019 will be held over March 25–26 next year.

The conference committee is now calling for abstracts on subjects such as:
• The HFC phase-down and the emergence of low-GWP refrigerants – synthetic and natural
• Future thinking, refrigerant inventory reduction and disposal, and the path towards carbon neutrality by 2050
• The evolution of refrigeration equipment including heat pumps, walk-in
coolroom solutions, and transcritical CO2 systems
• Risk management associated with the use of flammable refrigerants
• Legislation, standards, licensing and/or training.
The committee is also keen to hear ideas for case studies and site visit locations in and around the Melbourne area.
