AIRAH signs Memorandum of Understanding with ISHRAE

In a move that will significantly strengthen ties between Australia and Asia in the HVAC&R space, the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) and the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).



On Monday, January 22 (US time) at Chicago’s Palmer House Hilton,the two organisations formally agreed to work together. As part of the MoU, AIRAH and ISHRAE pledged to support the advancement and promotion of mutual interests of educational, technical, engineering and built environment professionals engaged in the HVAC&R and building services industry. The pact was signed by ISHRAE President Vishal Kapur and AIRAH President Ian Harwood, F.AIRAH. “This MoU is vital for the Asian region, with Australia and India now cooperating to leverage the great work and experience of all our members,” says Harwood. Kapur says the MoU is a win/win for ISHRAE and AIRAH. “This is a fantastic opportunity for both our organisations to share valuable knowledge and work closely,” he says. “Together we can promote the development of standards in our industry at a critical point in time.” Both presidents thanked ISHRAE Executive Ashwini Mehra and AIRAH CEO Tony Gleeson, M.AIRAH, for initiating and progressing the MoU’s development. The key areas of the agreement include: Membership and networking
  • Members of one society will be able to attend conferences and events of the other on the same terms as applicable to the members of the host society. This will extend to education programs, including eLearning and webinars.
Development of standards
  • Both organisations will promote standard development activities in Australia and India, and share available knowledge on the subject, including possible advocacy positions and themes.
Publications
  • ISHRAE and AIRAH will make their publications available to members of the partner organisation at concessional prices.
  • The two organisations will support the development of joint articles on the issues and similarities of the Australian and Indian HVAC&R industries. This will take placeannually, and be printed in the organisations’publications.
Policy statements and position statements
  • Each organisation may be given opportunities by the other to comment on proposed policy and position statements developed on technical subjects. If further collaboration is mutually beneficial, these opportunities will be explored.
Cooperation on exhibitions and conferences
  • ISHRAE and AIRAH will help disseminate information and promote each other’s major events.
