Arkema has announced the commissioning of a new production unit for Forane 1233zd at its Calvert City site in Kentucky, United States. This expansion is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its fluorospecialties business and meet growing demand in energy-efficient and sustainable solutions.
Forane 1233zd is a low-global warming potential (GWP) hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) used in various applications, including high-performance insulation foam, centrifugal chillers, and as a solvent in specialty applications. Arkema states that the new unit supports industries seeking to reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining high performance standards.
The Calvert City facility, which is already a key site in Arkema’s fluorochemicals production network, will increase the company’s global capacity for Forane 1233zd and enhance its supply chain resilience.
"This investment supports the continued growth of our fluorospecialties portfolio and reinforces our commitment to providing sustainable solutions to our customers," said Eryck Bonneau, Senior Vice President of Advanced Materials at Arkema.
Arkema emphasizes that the new unit aligns with its broader sustainability roadmap and long-term vision for specialty materials.
