Carrier China Provides HVAC Equipment and Control Solutions to Zhejiang Cloud Computing Center

China’s national policy focuses on building energy-efficient infrastructure and promotes the development of sustainable data centers to improve data communication to support the growing digital transformation in Zhejiang province. To support this growth, Carrier China provided 30 AquaEdge 19XRV low-voltage variable frequency centrifugal chillers and Carrier Comfort Network communicating controls to the Zhejiang Cloud Computing Center that supports up to 200,000 servers.

Zhejiang Cloud Computing Center is a collaboration between Hangzhou Iron & Steel Group and Alibaba Group with an investment of RMB15.8 billion. It will provide robust infrastructure for e-commerce, finance, logistics, cloud computing, big data and various value-added internet services, ensuring computing power for IoT applications, intelligent manufacturing, smart city infrastructure, future communities and green initiatives.

“It’s an honor to help Zhejiang Cloud Computing Center advance its energy conservation efforts,” said Cissy Wang, General Manager, Commercial Equipment Distribution, Carrier China. “With our long history of supporting data centers, we look forward to working with Zhejiang Cloud Computing Center customers to help them successfully implement cloud computing projects.”

Data centers are considered mission critical facilities where unexpected loss of electrical power impacts the operation of computers, servers and other primary business equipment. Carrier centrifugal chillers have led the industry for decades in rapid capacity recovery necessary to maintain acceptable room temperatures. Carrier’s AquaEdge 19XRV and integrated controls provide the required stability, reliability and efficiency necessary for the Zhejiang Cloud Computing Center. The integrated controls help reduce operating expenses and allow facility managers to monitor performance remotely and manage preventative maintenance to keep the chillers running according to operational needs.

“This year is the 120th anniversary of the invention of modern air conditioning, and Carrier is committed to developing innovative and high-efficiency HVAC solutions aligned with China’s national dual carbon goals and Carrier’s 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals to reduce its customers' carbon footprint by more than one gigaton,” said Titus Yu, Managing Director, Carrier HVAC North Asia.
