Daikin Partners with West Yorkshire to Advance Green Initiatives

Daikin has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to promote green technologies and job creation. This partnership includes Centrica, SSE Energy Solutions, and Sustainable Building Services.

Daikin plans to open at least three Sustainable Home Centres in West Yorkshire. These centres will educate residents and businesses on green technologies that can cut energy use and costs, supporting the region's goal of achieving net zero by 2038.

The initiative aims to equip local installers with skills for the increasing demand for heat pump installations. This supports West Yorkshire's net-zero target and aims to create high-quality jobs while addressing energy efficiency and affordability.

Hiroyasu Ishikawa, former Managing Director of Daikin UK, noted the importance of these centres in empowering individuals and businesses to reduce their carbon footprint. He stated, "This initiative helps achieve environmental goals and creates stable, well-paid jobs in the green economy."

In February 2023, Daikin partnered with Greater Manchester Combined Authority to retrofit homes. These UK partnerships align with Daikin’s global strategy to tackle climate challenges locally. Daikin aims to be carbon neutral by 2050.

Takayuki Kamekawa, Vice President Sales Affiliate Network at Daikin Europe, emphasized, “Strong partnerships with local authorities drive actual progress toward carbon neutrality.”

Hiroyasu Ishikawa reflected on these collaborations, highlighting Daikin's ability to merge technological expertise with local insights, driving impactful change and fostering positive outcomes in UK communities.
