Egypt Receives $1 Million in Funding for Energy-Efficient Cooling Project

Egypt has secured approval for its Compressor Conversion Project with funding of approximately USD 1 million during the 97th Meeting of the Executive Committee under the Montreal Protocol. The project will support the local production of inverter compressor technology to promote energy-efficient cooling.

The Executive Committee of the Montreal Protocol oversees the Multilateral Fund, which assists countries in phasing out ozone-depleting substances. The Compressor Conversion Project aims to convert hermetic compressor manufacturing to support inverter-based systems.

Cool Up contributed technical input to the feasibility study that informed the approved project proposal. Ole Reinholdt Nielsen, Senior Expert at Öko-Recherche, led the preparation of technical and economic studies, with local support from Amir Nakhla in Egypt.

According to the announcement, Cool Up will continue working with partners in Egypt through 2026 to support the transition to sustainable cooling solutions.
