53 signatories have now ratified the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on phasing down HFCs worldwide (including the European Union, and Mexico on 25 September).

Kigali has reached the threshold to enter into force, having been ratified by the required 20 parties at the end of 2017, and will come into force on 1 January 2019.

EPEE has been working closely with EU and national decision-makers, industry, end-users and schools to both raise awareness and provide guidance for the successful implementation of the EU F-gas Regulation that will go a long way to meet the requirements of the Kigali Amendment in the EU.

After several urgent calls for Member States to ratify the Kigali Amendment, EPEE welcomes this ratification, a key milestone for the EU to show global leadership in reducing HFC emissions.
