Ernest West & Beynon Ltd Appointed Authorised BITZER Marine Service Partner

BITZER has officially appointed Ernest West & Beynon Ltd as an Authorised Marine Service Partner, marking a significant step forward in servicing the specialist cooling needs of the marine and offshore industries. This partnership grants Ernest West & Beynon Ltd access to BITZER's comprehensive range of compressors, components, and refrigeration oils, along with the well-known Green Point services, which include remanufactured compressors and on-site support.

Kevin Glass, Managing Director of BITZER UK, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "With more than a century of experience in the marine and offshore industry, Ernest West & Beynon Ltd has unrivalled expertise and reach in this sector. We are delighted to have formalised our long-standing collaboration and look forward to working more closely in the coming months and years on its outstanding refrigeration solutions for clients across the UK and the world."

Founded in London in 1909 by Ernest West and Herbert Beynon, the company was a pioneer in carbon dioxide cooling systems and refrigeration for icemaking. Over the years, it evolved to specialize in marine refrigeration, developing long-lasting relationships with leading marine fleet operators. Today, with its headquarters in Paddock Wood, Kent, Ernest West & Beynon Ltd provides engineering expertise and maintains a strong presence at key ports in Portsmouth, Devonport, and the Clyde. The company offers full life-cycle support for onboard marine refrigeration systems, including chilled water plants, cold storage rooms, galley equipment, and air conditioning systems.

In addition to marine and offshore applications, Ernest West & Beynon Ltd serves a wide range of sectors, including scientific and medical cooling, funeral parlours, mortuaries, and food cold stores, offering bespoke solutions tailored to the specific needs of end-users.

Though based in the UK, the company’s operations extend globally, with projects active in Germany, Spain, New York, Gibraltar, Cape Town, Singapore, the Middle East, and Australia.

Andrei Stefancu, Technical Director of Ernest West & Beynon Ltd, emphasized the value of the partnership with BITZER, noting, “Our appointment as an authorised BITZER Marine Service Partner ensures our customers have full access to BITZER's range of proven compressors, spare parts, and components specially designed and optimised for use in a marine environment. A key requirement for components in marine systems is approval by a classification body, and BITZER equipment is fully listed and approved for use in this challenging environment.”

He further highlighted the long-standing relationship with BITZER, stating, "We have been using BITZER products for over 30 years. Its proven engineering, coupled with the excellent technical support provided by BITZER UK and head office in Germany, makes the company one of our most valued partners."

Currently, Ernest West & Beynon Ltd is working on significant projects, including the upgrading of refrigeration plants with new BITZER compressors and condensers. The company is also in the final stages of tendering for contracts worth over £2 million, which include BITZER equipment, reflecting the strength of the partnership and the company's ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in refrigeration solutions for the marine and offshore sectors.
