Eurovent Market Intelligence begins 25th annual data gathering

On 4 January 2019, Eurovent Market Intelligence (EMI) began its latest annual data collection, which has been providing manufacturers with information on the European HVAC sector market since 1994. With more than three hundred manufacturers and fifteen products, and representativeness rates often exceeding 80%, the statistical branch of Eurovent has become the benchmark for HVAC market data.

Firstly among the new features announced for 2019, there is a new, more refined segmentation on chilled water cooling units. As a result, the collection format has been adapted to new types of refrigerants to better measure market trends following F-Gas regulations. EMI also offers more detailed information on the type of onboard air compressor and new technology (free cooling, multi-pipe systems etc.).

This also applies to heat exchangers (air cooled type), where the segmentation by fluid type is more detailed. Air curtains collection will also provide more detail but at the geographical level this time, as requested by manufacturers during the Eurovent Summit in Seville in September 2018.

Another innovation: EMI is expanding its coverage to Split and VRF air conditioners, whose global demand is steadily increasing, with data collection for indoor and outdoor units. Most Chinese, Korean and Japanese manufacturers have already expressed interest, promising a market coverage rate in excess of 90%.

Finally, in March 2019, EMI will take a step further in data analysis. Participants will be able to view the results of the collection directly by means of interactive maps and graphs, available online via private access. Wherever they are, in just a few clicks employees of a participating company will be able to display on their computer or tablet a European map of the market they’re interested in, and see the details of a country simply by clicking on it. Yannick Cotrelle, EMI manager, is excited about this; "Before, employees who had to present a market report to their superiors spent a long time doing it and then found themselves with a static model that might not have been suitable for their audience. Now, all they have to do is connect to our website and browse according to what they want to present. Not only will the maps and graphs update automatically, but you will also be able to jump from one country or product to another in just one click and display the detail just as easily”.

Newly awaited innovations by manufacturers should continue to drive growth at the statistical office. In line with the 7% increase in the number of participants in 2018, 2019 is proving to be promising for EMI, whose reputation is now well established.
