FETA and BRA calls on UK Government to prioritize work on F Gas review

The Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA), the leading advocate for the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump industry, calls upon the newly elected UK government to prioritise work towards the UK meeting its Net Zero targets, including the consultation on the GB F Gas review.

In today's increasingly digital and interconnected world, it is crucial for countries to embrace emerging technologies and equip their workforce with the necessary skills to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Robotics and artificial intelligence have the potential to transform industries, drive productivity gains, and stimulate economic growth.

In addition to technological advancements, a comprehensive industrial strategy must also prioritise skills improvement. The rapid pace of technological change necessitates a workforce that is adaptable, resilient, and equipped with the necessary digital skills.

FETA is committed to working collaboratively with the UK government, industry leaders, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective policies and initiatives that promote technological innovation, skills development, and economic resilience.

The British Refrigeration Association (BRA), which represents companies in the refrigeration supply chain, welcomes the new UK government and calls on the government to launch the long awaited F-Gas Review Consultation – a critical part of the UK’s road to Net Zero.

Neil Roberts, British Refrigeration Association President, said: “We welcome the new government and look forward to working with ministers and officials to develop a new F Gas regulation, as this is essential to achieve the UK’s Net Zero ambitions. As we transition away from high global warming potential (GWP) F-gases, industry will need to scale up the use of alternative gases and we would urge the government to consider consulting on mandatory training for all refrigerants as part of the F Gas consultation – as the previous government indicated they would. Mandatory training is essential if we are to retain a strong culture of safety as the market moves to the more widespread use of flammable refrigerants, which is why we are calling for this to be included in the consultation.”
