Guide to becoming a Chartered Engineer

This latest IOR Education and Skills Policy group Guidance Note provides a summary of how you can register. IOR Fellow, Member, Associate and Technician members are eligible to apply for Engineering Council Registration through a joint agreement with CIBSE (You do not need to be a CIBSE member or apply for CIBSE membership and you can swap your registration from CIBSE to IOR!).

Engineering Council registration gives you:

• national recognition of your skills and status in the engineering profession
• designatory initials after your name (CEng, IEng or EngTech)
• evidence of your commitment to your Continued Professional Development, ethical standards and sustainability.
