The Heat Pump Association (HPA) has announced a new initiative to offer free membership to MCS certified heat pump installers. The move aims to enhance installer representation, improve access to industry information, and support greater collaboration across the heat pump sector.
According to the HPA, nearly 100,000 heat pumps were sold in 2024, and over 2,000 businesses are MCS certified for heat pump installation. The association stated that installers are essential to accelerating the transition to low-carbon heating in the UK and will be supported through knowledge sharing and policy engagement.
Membership benefits include access to the HPA Installer LinkedIn Group, a fortnightly newsletter with policy and event updates, and exclusive data such as Boiler Upgrade Scheme statistics and training figures. Installers can also participate in virtual drop-in meetings and contribute to HPA consultation responses.
An elected Installer Representative will represent installer members at HPA and external stakeholder meetings. Members are eligible to vote and stand in biennial elections.
Charlotte Lee, Chief Executive of the HPA, said: “We recognise that installers are the backbone of the heat pump sector and will be critical in the transition to low carbon heating in the UK. This new free membership option ensures they have enhanced support and have their voices amplified at no cost.”
Ian Rippin, CEO at MCS, added: “This partnership with the Heat Pump Association strengthens the support available to MCS certified installers. It opens direct access to valuable insights, policy updates, and a platform to share their expertise.”
