Johnson Controls has announced the grand opening of its new Innovation Center, the Warren Johnson Engineering Lab, in Glendale, Wisconsin. The 109,000-square-foot facility houses around 250 employees, focusing on developing smart, healthy, and sustainable building technologies.
This new center underscores Johnson Controls' long-standing commitment to innovation since its inception in 1885. It aims to enhance hardware and software engineering, including advancements in the OpenBlue suite of digital solutions, Building Automation Systems, and materials testing.
George Oliver, Chairman and CEO of Johnson Controls, stated, "By providing a dedicated space for experimentation and collaboration, we equip our engineering team with the tools and environment to create groundbreaking building solutions."
Located near the existing Johnson Controls campus, the facility supports current engineering and testing needs while remaining adaptable for future technological advancements. Its design encourages collaboration and innovation across teams.
The center is outfitted with advanced technology, including facilities for hardware and software integration, AI and machine learning tools for smart building solutions, and collaborative workspaces. It also incorporates sustainable practices like EV charging stations and efficient air filtration, highlighting Johnson Controls' commitment to sustainability.
The construction involved collaboration with Weas Development, Mortenson Construction, Eppstein Uhen Architects, and CBRE Global Commercial Real Estate Services. The grand opening event celebrated the facility's positive impact on the Milwaukee community and the building technology industry.
