Modine Expands Operations in India to Support Growing Data Center Market
Modine has announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Chennai, India. Set to open in mid-2025, the facility will produce advanced cooling solutions under the Airedale by Modine brand and cooling modules for stationary power generation equipment.

The expansion comes as part of Modine’s strategy to address increasing demand for mission-critical cooling technologies in India’s rapidly growing data center industry. This follows similar investments in new manufacturing facilities in Calgary, Canada, and Bradford, UK, aimed at meeting the needs of hyperscale and colocation data centers.

Strategic Growth in a High-Demand Market

"This strategic expansion of two Modine businesses in India is an example of how we are driving growth by capturing the mega-trends connected to high-performance computing and AI," said Neil D. Brinker, Modine's President and CEO. "By increasing capacity and establishing production facilities in India, we are in a strong position to provide a range of highly engineered enabling technologies to the data center industry."

India’s data center market has seen accelerated investment due to its growing economy, skilled labor availability, and improved connectivity to Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. With numerous hyperscale and colocation companies investing in the region, demand for advanced cooling technologies has risen sharply.

Expanding Regional Reach

"India is a key part of our growth strategy to meet customer demand in India, Asia, and the Middle East," said Art Laszlo, Group Vice President, Global Data Centers. "Airedale by Modine invests heavily in research and development to design technologies suitable for all regions. We solve our customers' most critical data center cooling challenges with tailored solutions from just outside the data center hall to the rack."

The Chennai facility will also enhance production capacity for cooling modules used in stationary power generation units that support primary and backup power on data center campuses. "This additional capacity expands our manufacturing footprint so we can fulfill new global orders by this summer," said Matthew Powell, Vice President and General Manager, Air-Cooled Applications.

Second Facility in India

Modine has been operating in India since 2007, when it opened its first facility focused on cooling modules for off-highway and commercial vehicles, as well as power generation equipment. This second facility represents a significant expansion of the company’s footprint in the region and reinforces its commitment to supporting the global data center industry with cutting-edge thermal management solutions.
