New digital twin impresses at store and service station

Two new J & E Hall 12hp Digital Twin Fusion Scroll Commercial Condensing Units have been installed at O’Kane’s store and service station in Armagh, Northern Ireland. The new outdoor units running on R407F support eight refrigeration cabinets in the store which is part of the Nisa retail chain. The cabinets are used to sell a wide range of food, drink and other essential items which attract motorists and local people to the busy outlet.

The new, smaller 12hp unit from J & E Hall houses two highly-efficient Copeland scroll compressors – one digital and one fixed speed. It provides greater energy efficiency and lower running costs by matching refrigeration load precisely. This is achieved by advanced electronic control of the digital compressor which can deliver variable capacity from 10 per cent to 100 per cent.

The consultants for the Armagh installation were shopfitting specialists Activ Projects of Telford, Shropshire. Activ Projects Contracts Manager Andy Morgan said: "O’Kane’s store in Armagh needed to be upgraded and the project involved supplying and installing new Arneg refrigerated cabinets and a complete refurbishment of the interior including shelving, flooring and woodwork.” Activ Project is one of the UK’s largest distributors of Arneg cabinets.

Mr Morgan added: “The installation was a good example of how the new J & E Hall Digital Twin Unit can be so effective. Two new, compact units replaced a range of multiple outdoor units and with the new units’ smaller footprint this was always a far more practical solution for this site. Energy saving is high on customer priorities and the new, efficient compact digital twin with its precise load matching achieves this objective very efficiently.

The J & E Hall digital range is Eco-design compliant – a European regulation that sets minimum standards for energy efficiency. Equipment which complies with this regulation and achieves significant reductions in energy use is clearly a significant priority with the end user.
