Nidec Global Appliance (GA), part of Nidec Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors (ACIM), has announced the appointment of Alberto Casnati as its new President. Casnati succeeds Guilherme Almeida, who has transitioned to CEO of Nidec’s Automotive Motors & Electronic Controls (AMEC) Business Unit.
With over 27 years of experience in the compressor and motor industries, Casnati brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Previously serving as Vice President of the Home Appliances segment and Chief Strategy Officer at ACIM, he joined Nidec in 2022 after holding leadership positions in international markets, including China. Under his leadership, GA will oversee three business segments: Home Appliances, Commercial Appliances, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), representing brands such as Embraco, FIR, U.S. MOTORS®, and Rescue.
“Nidec Global Appliance will continue to strengthen its portfolio by delivering high-quality, energy-efficient solutions to meet the evolving needs of our global customers,” said Casnati. “We have iconic brands, global presence, and exceptional people, which gives me confidence in our strategic positioning to lead the markets we operate in.”
Guilherme Almeida Takes on New Role at AMEC
Guilherme Almeida, a long-standing executive at Nidec, has moved on to lead AMEC as CEO. A Brazilian executive with an 18-year tenure that began as an intern at Embraco (acquired by Nidec in 2019), Almeida has significantly contributed to GA’s growth. During his time as GA President, Almeida repositioned Embraco from a compressors brand to a complete solutions provider, expanded the portfolio to include electronics, and reorganized the company’s global footprint.
“For the last two years, I have had the honor of leading the company to which I’ve dedicated the last 18 years of my professional life,” Almeida said. “I am confident in this leadership change, knowing Alberto’s skills and commitment to ensuring continued growth for the business.”
Strategic Changes Reflect Broader Reorganization
These appointments align with the formation of Nidec’s Appliance and Automotive Division (AAD), which integrates the ACIM and AMEC Business Units. Valter Taranzano will serve as CEO & President of AAD, while Katia Drusian will lead the ACIM Business Unit, encompassing Nidec Global Appliance and Commercial & Industrial Platforms.
This restructuring aims to position Nidec for sustained growth across its diverse business segments, further reinforcing its commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions.
