Leadership transition follows a decade of growth under outgoing Chair Ian Hopkins.
The ARBS Education and Research Foundation has announced a leadership transition, with Dr Simon Bradwell appointed as the new Chair following the departure of Ian Hopkins, who served in the role since the Foundation’s establishment in 2014.
Over the past ten years, the Foundation has awarded more than $500,000 in grants to education and research initiatives in the HVAC sector. Under Hopkins’ leadership, it became a key player in fostering skill development and technical knowledge across the industry. His background with engineering firm Norman Disney & Young informed a decade of steady, purpose-driven governance.
“In Ian, we have had a Chair whose experience, insight, and commitment to our goals have shaped the Foundation into what it is today,” said Simon Bradwell. “All of the Foundation’s directors extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Ian for his outstanding contribution and leadership.”
Dr Bradwell, the current Managing Director of ebm-papst A&NZ Pty Ltd, brings significant HVAC industry experience to his new role. His first action as Chair was to lead a strategic planning session with all Foundation directors and ARBS CEO Amanda Searle. One of his primary objectives is to increase the Foundation’s visibility and strengthen ties with key industry organisations.
Bradwell noted that enhancing stakeholder engagement is a priority, acknowledging that communication is a common challenge for technically focused entities. His leadership aims to build on the Foundation’s strong foundation and further its mission of supporting excellence in HVAC education and research.
