The revised European Union F-Gas Regulation will come into force on 11 March

The recently revised F-gas Regulation by the European Union has been officially published in the Official Journal of the EU and will come into legal effect on March 11. This regulation outlines a comprehensive plan to completely eliminate the consumption of HFCs in the EU by 2050, with specific phase-out dates for the use of HFCs and HFOs in certain heating and cooling equipment.

This new regulation is expected to pave the way for the adoption of alternative refrigerants, such as natural refrigerants, in refrigeration, heat pumps, and air-conditioning systems in the European market.

By phasing out harmful fluorinated gases, the EU aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change while promoting the use of more environmentally friendly options. This shift towards sustainable cooling solutions is crucial for meeting the EU's climate goals and ensuring a greener future for generations to come.
