RadiCal in scroll housing for residential and industrial ventilation

The Ecodesign Directive has heightened requirements for residential ventilation units, which need to be demonstrably energy-efficient, adjustable and quiet. Motor and fan specialist ebm-papst has now rounded out its line of especially efficient RadiCal fans in scroll housings.

In addition to the existing sizes 190 and 225, smaller models in sizes 133 and 160 (24 to 165 W) - ideal for installation in compact residential ventilation units - are now available.

Efficient and quiet
The scroll housing on the centrifugal fans has an outlet with a round cross section for direct attachment to the pipe fitting on the unit’s air outlet. Flow losses are reduced, air performance remains pressure-insensitive, and efficiency rises by as much as 34% over centrifugal blowers of the same design while noise emission is significantly reduced by about 3.5 dB(A).

Vane anemometer for integrated air flow measurement
Special features of the product line include integrated air flow measurement with a vane anemometer (patent pending), humidity and temperature sensors positioned in the air flow, a MODBUS RTU interface with numerous communications capabilities, and connections for further sensors.

Plug & play system, ready to install
The fans are designed as plug & play systems for easy installation. In addition to the designs with EC motors, models with 2-pole single-phase asynchronous motors or with fewer sensors are also available.

New power blower for industry
For applications that require more power, the new product line has the right solution: Size 225 is now also available in a 500 W version, a power blower that delivers 1,000 m³/h at 1,200 Pa, making it suitable for many industrial engineering applications, for example in packaging systems where certain areas need to be cooled as quickly as possible.

AxiForce – more power, less noise

The AxiForce tubeaxial fans are the latest generation of fans from ebm-papst, delivering more power with less noise. They are used in industrial applications and to cool electronics and telecommunications power modules.

The new fans are based on the successful S Force series of tubeaxial fans from ebm-papst. The series of new AxiForce fans starts at a size of 80 mm. They are used to cool automation equipment such as variable frequency drives and robot controllers, LED displays, power modules for 5G mobile network infrastructure, electronics in video streaming servers, or data center equipment.

More power, less noise
The new AxiForce fans have the same dimensions as their predecessors but with aerodynamically optimized impellers and housings. At an operating point of 108 m³/h at 285 Pa back pressure, the AxiForce 80 delivers an increase in efficiency of 42% and reduces noise emission by 7 dB(A); the new generation delivers more power with less noise.

High pressure, small space
The new AxiForce 80 tubeaxial fan was developed for applications with high back pressure (up to 1,400 Pa). It has a steeper characteristic curve as needed for applications such as cooling automation equipment with densely packed components whose waste heat must be removed with axial air flow. The characteristic curve’s saddle area is nearly twice as high, enabling greater air flows in spite of higher back pressures and achieving considerable performance increases in the applications.

Strong IP68 protection
A special environment-resistant variant was developed for the new AxiForce, satisfying the requirements of protection class IP68 – dustproof and protected against powerful water jets. This variant can also pass a 30 day salt spray test. Also available is a version that satisfies stricter EMC requirements according to DIN EN 55032 class B.

The new AxiForce fan series begins with size 80/80/38 mm, which will be available from March 2020. Other sizes are to follow in the summer of 2020.
