The UNEP OzonAction Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP), West Asia Office, organized a two-day training workshop for Jordan’s National Ozone Unit (NOU) and enforcement officers at the Ministry of Environment. Held from 27 to 28 May 2025 in Amman, the workshop aimed to strengthen collaboration between the NOU and enforcement teams to support Jordan’s continued compliance with the Montreal Protocol and its amendments.
Participants included one man and seven women from the Ministry of Environment. The sessions provided technical knowledge, operational tools, and institutional contacts to support the daily implementation of NOU projects and responsibilities under the Protocol. Discussions addressed challenges in executing activities and explored practical solutions to improve enforcement and coordination.
The workshop is part of UNEP’s Regional Network services to Article 5 countries in West Asia and its role as an Implementing Agency of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol. The initiative supports institutional strengthening through targeted capacity building and South-South cooperation.
According to UNEP, the training reflects ongoing efforts to assist countries in achieving the complete phase-out of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) by 2030 and in preparing for obligations under the Kigali Amendment, which mandates the phasedown of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
