IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016

66th IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016 Exhibition Details: When: September 22-29 Where: Hannover Messe, Messegelände, 30521 Hannover, Germany The origins of the IAA can be traced back to more than 100 years. In 1897, 8 motor vehicles were exhibited to the public at the Bristol Hotel in Berlin. From these humble beginnings, a regular exhibition was established that, due to its high visitor turnout, had to be separated into an alternating exhibition of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in 1991. In odd-numbered years the IAA Cars is held in Frankfurt; even-numbered years see the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover.

Fair topics The automotive world meets at the IAA Commercial Vehicles. It is the world’s leading trade fair for mobility, transportation and logistics. Its comprehensive innovations, exhibitors from several industries, discussions and, last but not least, the expert visitor structure represent a unique profile. The IAA Commercial Vehicles is special because practically all the suppliers are represented alongside the manufacturers. The IAA is therefore the world’s only mobility fair which represents the entire commercial vehicle industry along the whole value-added chain, providing the best conditions for good business.

With its broad spectrum the IAA provides a comprehensive overview of the international commercial vehicle industry: Trucks and truck tractor Light commercial vehicles Buses Special motor vehicles Trailers, bodies and containers for vehicles and systems Vehicle interior – Fixtures and Equipment Parts and accessories Transport logistics Equipment used for servicing, repair and maintenance of products Professional literature and periodicals Organizations and corporations related to road motor vehicle technology, motor vehicle traffic or transportation business Model cars Services E-Mobility Specialist Events and Special shows (e.g. Test drives, vintage vehicles) Statistics visitors & exhibitors 2014 The 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles fully lived up to its slogan “Driving the Future”. Connectivity, efficiency and flexibility – these three forward-looking topics formed the focus of this exhibition. The IAA presented the entire commercial-vehicle value chain on an area of 265,000 square meters. The IAA has demonstrated its position as the world’s most important trade show for mobility, transport and logistics. The trends and topics are set at the IAA; this is the only place where the entire industry is on display. Innovation and internationality – these two exhibition features are inextricably linked at this IAA. The 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles attracted 2,066 exhibitors (nine percent more than the IAA 2012) from 45 countries presenting a diverse range of products. A total of 1,944 accredited journalists from 58 countries reported on the trends, highlights and new developments at the IAA. The IAA has enhanced its position as a professional trade show for decision-makers. Even more than in preceding years, the exhibitors appreciate the high quality of the visitors and now the even greater intensity of meetings with customers.

The share of trade visitors exceeded 80 percent on weekdays. On the opening day 91 percent of visitors were trade visitors. On average 84 percent of visitors were professionals, a result close to the good level seen at the last IAA Commercial Vehicles. More than the half of the exhibitors indicated that they were satisfied with the quality of the visiting specialists. More than a quarter (27 percent) of trade visitors were from outside of Germany. The majority of trade visitors arriving from abroad came from the European Union, the proportion of Asian trade show visitors was at 16 percent.

Exhibitors The 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles kicked off in Hannover with very good indicators. This applies to the exhibition area, the number of exhibitors and the international nature of the show, which is a defining feature of the IAA. The number of exhibitors came to 2,066, i.e. nine percent above the final figure from 2012. A whole 59 percent of the exhibitors came from abroad, setting a new record. Since the IAA was divided into the IAA Cars and the IAA Commercial Vehicles, it has never been more international than it is now in relation to the exhibitors, so it fully lives up to its aim of being the world’s most important trade show for mobility, transport and logistics. This year the foreign exhibitors came from 44 countries. This year the country sending the most exhibitors was, as seen in 2012, the People’s Republic of China followed by Italy, Turkey, the Netherlands and France.
