Carrier Engages High School Students in HVAC Careers Through Vocational Training
In celebration of Manufacturing Day, Carrier welcomed over 40 high school students from Area 31 Career Center to its Gas Furnace Center of Excellence on the West Side. The visit offered prospective HVAC technicians a hands-on experience and included a tour of one of the largest gas furnace factories globally and a group activity at the Carrier Technical Training Center.

Tim Evers, Senior Director of Operations at Carrier, highlighted the event's impact: "It's a fantastic opportunity to share the importance of a career in trades, hopefully inspiring the next skilled technicians generation."

Manufacturing Day, recognized annually in October, coincided with the opening of Carrier's new 6,000-square-foot technical training center aimed at preparing future HVAC technicians. Located in Indianapolis, the center enhances the HVAC curriculum and supports students exploring career opportunities in heating and air conditioning.

Local student Benjamin Gregory expressed his motivation: “I got into HVAC to get my EPA Type III certification to handle the new refrigerant, having worked in the field with my father.”

Carrier's collaboration with Area 31 and its Tech Up program underscores its commitment to developing skilled HVAC professionals. Additionally, Carrier supports various local organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Indiana Black Expo, and the Boys & Girls Clubs, among others, to empower and uplift the community.
