GEA Achieves Platinum Status in 2024 EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment

GEA has attained the Platinum rating in the 2024 EcoVadis sustainability assessment, placing the company in the top one percent of over 150,000 rated organizations globally. The result reflects GEA’s strengthened commitment to sustainable business practices and transparency across all evaluated categories.

Performance Highlights

GEA improved its EcoVadis score by 10 points compared to the previous year, upgrading from Gold to the highest possible Platinum status. The company reported progress in all four assessed categories: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Notably, GEA achieved an almost perfect score in the Environment category.

The EcoVadis rating is based on structured sustainability data and ISO certification standards. GEA’s performance builds on its Climate Transition Plan 2040 and the Mission 30 corporate strategy, both aimed at long-term emissions reductions and responsible supply chain management.

Market Context and Strategy

In April 2024, GEA became the first company in Germany’s DAX index family to receive shareholder approval for a "Say-on-Climate" resolution, with a 98.4 percent approval rate. The company has also received recognition from other independent organizations, including a place in Time Magazine’s “World’s 500 Most Sustainable Companies” (ranked 33rd), an A score from the CDP climate list, and inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.

“The award from EcoVadis strongly demonstrates the effectiveness of our sustainability strategy. As a world-leading mechanical engineering company for key industries such as food and pharmaceuticals, with complex supply chains, this means a lot to us: Our excellent performance shows our customers that they are working with a responsible and capable company,” said Stefan Klebert, CEO of GEA.

Chief Sustainability Officer Dr. Nadine Sterley added, “We strive for maximum transparency about our measures to promote them together with all our stakeholders. Hence, we are delighted that the extensive disclosure of our data has been recognized by EcoVadis with the highest possible award.”

EcoVadis Assessment Scope

EcoVadis evaluates sustainability performance across four themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment process involves comprehensive documentation, self-reporting, and validation by independent experts, making it a key reference for suppliers and customers worldwide.
