LG opens California HVAC training academy for heat pump installs

LG Electronics has opened a new LG Air Conditioning Technologies Training Academy in California, expanding its network of facilities for HVAC professionals and marking the end of California Heat Pump Week, held April 11-19. The company said the academy is intended to equip contractors and installers with knowledge and hands-on skills for heat pump installations supporting indoor comfort and water heating.

The California facility is located in Orange and becomes the sixth academy in LG’s national network, joining sites in Georgia, Massachusetts, Illinois, Texas and New Jersey. According to LG, training at these academies covers unitary, ductless, VRF and controls solutions, including installation and service for its air conditioning and water heating products.

At the opening event, LG presented its 2026 high-efficiency HVAC products, including water heating and control solutions. The company said these products are intended to enhance comfort, minimize noise and maximize energy efficiency under appropriate operating conditions.

LG also co-sponsored events during California Heat Pump Week and sent its Mobile Showroom to distributor and community events across the state to demonstrate products and answer questions about heat pumps. The week-long campaign, led by the California Heat Pump Partnership, focuses on public awareness, contractor capacity and heat pump adoption in California.

“Contractor training is critical to advancing the adoption of heat pump technology,” said Steve Scarbrough, senior vice president and general manager of LG Air Conditioning Technologies, LG Electronics USA. “LG's Orange Training Academy is the latest example of our commitment to equipping contractors and installers with the in-depth knowledge and hands-on skills intended to support implementation of HVAC technologies across California.”
