Hitema Adds 2.5 MW Chillers for AI Data Centers

Hitema has introduced a new series of high-capacity chillers for AI, high-performance computing and mission-critical infrastructure. The oil-free units expand the company’s existing data center cooling portfolio and provide cooling capacities of up to 2.5 MW (710 RT) per unit.

The series supports direct-to-chip and liquid-to-liquid cooling architectures. Its design includes an inverted-M condenser configuration, large-diameter EC fans and optimized heat exchange surfaces.

Free-cooling models can operate with leaving water temperatures of up to 33°C (91.4°F) and in ambient temperatures ranging from -20°C to +52°C (-4°F to +125.6°F). In moderate climates, Hitema says the technology can reduce energy consumption by up to 60% compared with conventional mechanical cooling systems.

The chillers use low-GWP refrigerants and can be configured for hyperscale, colocation and enterprise applications. They can also integrate with monitoring and infrastructure management systems. A reinforced structural frame is designed to simplify container handling, transportation and on-site positioning.

The new series complements Hitema’s inverter screw compressor chillers for data centers and mission-critical applications. “AI is accelerating the evolution of digital infrastructures and driving demand for increasingly efficient, reliable, and scalable cooling solutions,” said Maurizio Burba. “With this new series, we are expanding our portfolio to support operators, consultants, and system integrators in the development of next-generation Data Centers, delivering high performance, sustainability, and operational continuity.”
