KARYER presents two cold chain papers at 9th IIR conference

KARYER presented two technical papers on sustainability and performance in the cold chain at the “9th IIR Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain,” held on April 12-14, 2026. The company participated in the event as a silver sponsor, and its R&D team delivered both presentations.

The first paper, “Efficient Evaporator Design in Cold Chain Refrigeration Units, a Case Study on Performance and Sustainability,” focused on a compact finned-tube evaporator for refrigerated transport units. According to the study, the design was optimized to provide maximum heat transfer surface area within a limited volume while balancing cooling capacity and energy consumption.

As part of the analysis, 7 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm tube diameters were compared to assess changes in heat transfer efficiency and mechanical strength as tube diameter decreased. KARYER said the results showed that staggered tube arrangements and optimized fin geometries can deliver up to a 47.8% reduction in internal coil volume, enabling high performance with lower refrigerant charge.

The second paper, “Sustainable Cold Chain Solutions: Comparative Analysis of Evaporator Types in Cold Storage Applications,” examined ceiling type, dual discharge, hangar type and floor type evaporator configurations under the same operating conditions. The study found that evaporator selection depends not only on capacity, but also on parameters including energy efficiency, airflow needs, storage environment and frost risk.

According to the presentation, sustainable cold chain performance is directly linked to proper equipment selection, aerodynamic design and effective defrost strategies. KARYER said the two studies reflect its engineering focus on lower energy consumption, reduced refrigerant usage and higher system durability in cold chain applications.
