The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) recognised outstanding service and leadership in the building services sector at the 2025 President’s Awards Dinner. Held at Claridge’s Hotel in London, the annual October event honoured members for exceptional contributions to the Institution and the broader industry.
This year, CIBSE presented four Gold Medals, four Silver Medals and eleven Bronze Medals. These awards acknowledge long-standing dedication to advancing building services engineering and supporting the Institution’s goals in education, research, and professional development.
Gold Medals were awarded to Professor Derek Clements-Croome, Professor Kevin Kelly, Peter Y Wong, and Richard Rooley. Their achievements span decades of service across CIBSE committees, education, technical guidance, and international collaboration. Clements-Croome was recognised for nearly 70 years of work on intelligent buildings and wellbeing. Kelly was cited for his leadership roles and commitment to sustainability. Wong’s influence in Hong Kong’s engineering sector and Rooley’s contributions to global engagement and technical excellence were also highlighted.
Silver Medals went to Antony Ownsworth, Dr Richard Peters, Wai-yip Stanley Chow, and Farah Naz. The recipients were commended for their leadership in regional branches, technical guidance, and advocacy in areas such as lighting, vertical transportation, fire safety, and sustainability.
Bronze Medals recognised contributions across regions and technical groups. Recipients included Austin Williamson, David Mooney, Gary Kai Wai Chiang, Helen Loomes, John McLean, Jonathan Grimshaw, Laura Mansel-Thomas, Leon Markwell, Paul Marston, Ruth Kelly-Waskett, and Dr Mahroo Eftekhari.
CIBSE President Vince Arnold commented: “The President’s Awards Dinner gives us the opportunity to celebrate those who go above and beyond to inspire, to innovate, and to lead… I am proud to say that CIBSE is not only part of the conversation, but we are also helping to shape it.”
