Americold opens cold chain hub at Canada’s Port Saint John

Americold Realty Trust has opened an import-export cold chain hub at Port Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada, during Port Days 2026. The facility was developed in collaboration with DP World and Canadian Pacific Kansas City to integrate cold storage, maritime logistics and rail access in one location.

The hub is designed to support temperature-controlled product flows between Central and Eastern Canada and markets in Europe, South America and the Asia-Pacific region. Americold said the facility is the only temperature-controlled storage solution in Eastern Canada directly connected to a port without drayage, removing intermediate transport between vessel and warehouse.

The Port Saint John facility provides approximately 22,000 pallet positions and is designed for high-throughput import and export volumes. Its configuration supports handling across transportation modes and gives customers greater visibility and control over supply chains.

Americold said the investment is expected to support up to 100 jobs and contribute to economic development in New Brunswick. The company said the hub is part of its strategy to use infrastructure and partnerships to better connect production to consumption across the global cold chain.

“This facility leverages our collaboration with leading global trade and transportation partners, creating a uniquely integrated solution to move temperature-sensitive products between inland production regions and international markets more efficiently and reliably,” said Rob Chambers, Chief Executive Officer at Americold.
