Danfoss raises nominal flows in AB-QM size L valves

Danfoss has redesigned and expanded its AB-QM Pressure Independent Control Valve range in sizes DN 125–250 (approximately 5–10 inches). The updated valves provide higher nominal flow rates, lower differential pressure requirements and compatibility with smaller actuators for HVAC, data center and district cooling applications.

Nominal flow rates have increased by 5–60% across the range, with an average increase of 30%. The required starting pressure is now 40 kPa (5.8 psi) for standard-flow models and 60 kPa (8.7 psi) for High Flow models.

The redesigned valves can use actuators with lower force. DN 200 and DN 250 valves no longer require the NovoCon XL digital actuator and can instead use the NovoCon L. The maximum permitted differential pressure has also increased from 600 kPa (87 psi) to 800 kPa (116 psi) for all valves.

Danfoss has added two DN 250 Super High Flow models. The DN 250 SHF provides a nominal flow of 600 m³/h (approximately 2,642 US gpm) at a starting pressure of 80 kPa (11.6 psi), while the DN 250 SHF+ provides 670 m³/h (approximately 2,950 US gpm) at 100 kPa (14.5 psi).

The valves retain pressure-independent operation, valve authority close to 100% and a control range of 1:1000. According to Danfoss, this functionality maintains design flow under varying system conditions and supports stable control.
