Garrett Motion has announced that Multistack selected its oil-free centrifugal compressor technology for next-generation CRAC-DX (direct expansion computer room air conditioning) systems serving data centers in Asia-Pacific. Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027.
The compressors will be integrated into Multistack’s new cooling platforms. Multistack supplies modular chiller and cooling solutions for commercial, industrial and data center applications.
Garrett’s compressor combines high-speed centrifugal compression with oil-free air foil bearing technology. Operating at more than 90,000 RPM, it is designed to improve efficiency and reliability while reducing maintenance requirements. The technology also supports the adoption of next-generation low-GWP refrigerants.
According to Garrett, the compressor is more than 50% smaller and 80% lighter than conventional solutions. Its compact design is intended to reduce total cost of ownership and support industrial HVAC and cooling applications.
