Site-level data identifies product use and purchased energy as the main emissions sources, guiding efficiency and supply chain reductions.

KAORI verifies fifth annual GHG inventory across Taiwan and China

Kaori Heat Treatment Co., Ltd. has completed its greenhouse gas inventory for the fifth consecutive year under ISO 14064-1. The inventory covers six operating sites in Taiwan and China and was independently verified by the British Standards Institution (BSI).

Since 2021, KAORI has expanded the inventory boundary from its Taiwan facilities to other Group operations in China. The latest assessment covers Scope 1 direct emissions, Scope 2 energy indirect emissions and selected Scope 3 emissions, establishing a consistent group-wide approach to greenhouse gas accounting.

Under the location-based approach, Scope 1 emissions totaled 307.4891 metric tons CO2e (approximately 339 short tons CO2e), while Scope 2 emissions reached 7,766.1695 metric tons CO2e (approximately 8,561 short tons CO2e). Scope 3 emissions included 707.2208 metric tons CO2e (approximately 780 short tons CO2e) from upstream transportation and 14,437.7891 metric tons CO2e (approximately 15,915 short tons CO2e) from products used by the organization.

Total location-based emissions were 23,218.669 metric tons CO2e (approximately 25,594 short tons CO2e). KAORI said product-use-phase emissions and purchased energy remained the main emission sources identified by the inventory.

The company has also established separate emissions inventories for each site using standardized data collection and management processes. KAORI plans to use the site-level data to identify emission sources, improve energy efficiency, optimize manufacturing processes and support carbon reduction work with supply chain partners and customers.
