Green Point UK Launches Specialist Support Service for Screw Compressor Maintenance

Green Point UK, the service arm of BITZER UK, has introduced a dedicated support service for refrigeration contractors and engineers tasked with maintaining systems based on screw compressors. This new service is designed to provide expert guidance, troubleshooting, and on-site support to ensure effective maintenance and rapid resolution of any issues, minimizing downtime.

Screw compressors, known for their complex design and advanced engineering, require precise maintenance practices. Unlike more familiar reciprocating compressors, screw compressors operate on different compression principles and involve tight tolerances, which can make field servicing daunting for engineers. Green Point UK’s new service offers expert advice to help engineers confidently carry out repairs and maintenance, preventing prolonged equipment downtime and potential damage.

The service includes remote technical advice, diagnostics, and troubleshooting, as well as on-site support when required. Green Point UK is also collaborating with BITZER UK to develop an in-person training course on screw compressor technology, set to launch next year at the Milton Keynes headquarters. This training will provide hands-on experience for contractors, engineers, and maintenance staff, aiming to improve maintenance practices, reduce downtime, and enhance the efficiency of cooling systems.

Screw compressors are integral to large-capacity cooling systems, but their precision engineering and sensitivity to environmental conditions can present challenges for maintenance, including:

  • Precision tolerances: Minor wear or misalignment can impact performance.
  • Sealing and lubrication issues: Proper lubrication is critical to avoid severe damage.
  • Advanced diagnostics: Engineers require specialized tools for detecting faults.
  • Cost and downtime pressures: Quick repairs are essential to minimize system disruptions.
  • Temperature and environmental sensitivity: Engineers must adapt maintenance to operating conditions.
  • System integration: Issues in the compressor can affect the entire system.

Green Point UK’s support ensures that engineers have access to technical knowledge and resources, backed by BITZER’s global expertise. The company’s goal is to assist contractors in navigating the complexities of screw compressor maintenance, helping to reduce costs and improve system reliability.
