New Embraco Condensing Units portfolio addresses North American market demands

Embraco, a brand of Nidec Global Appliance and a provider of refrigeration technology for the complete domestic and commercial cold chain, takes a further step in its strategy of offering a comprehensive portfolio of complete refrigeration systems, such as condensing and sealed units, to the American market. During the last years Embraco brand has been shifting its market approach, previously based on product, to a solutions oriented approach, developing innovative and highly efficient cooling systems, including an extended range of condensing units. The second generation of condensing units (CDUs) is being launched in the american market in February 2021 as part of Embraco’s standard line-up of cooling solutions. The standardized catalog includes low and medium temp units, ranging from 1/10 HP to 1 ½ HP.

The new CDUs portfolio of 2020 comes with Embraco new generation compressors, FFU, NEU and NTU platforms, recognized for their high energy efficiency, performance and reliability. The NEU and NTU families increase the energy efficiency in up to 5% to 10%, compared to previous families. The CDUs portfolio is suitable for multiple applications in food retail and food service, such as reach-ins, under counters, prep tables, merchandisers, beverage coolers, horizontal freezers, supermarket islands and display cases.

The conception and development of this new line of condensing units was focused on the OEMs, installers and end-users experience, and the result is a high quality, energy efficient and simple to service option, equipped with standard components and electrical connections.

“The implementation of this portfolio addresses a demand we see from the market for increased value add solutions, including short lead times and streamlined selection, installation and maintenance processes. We have carefully selected the units’ components so they are easily serviced using parts readily available in the market. The units’ designs are specifically for the American market and are compliant with all UL requirements. This portfolio was developed in close partnership with regional technical experts to ensure the various feature packages covered the full needs of different industry segments”, explains Kerry Obrate, Sales Senior Manager at Nidec Global Appliance, responsible for Embraco’s portfolio in North America. “For the end user, the main gains are energy savings from the high efficiency compressors, and added robustness and quick/easy serviceability, leading to significantly reduced down times”, he adds.

Simple selection process

The company offers three different options of features packages, giving the benefit of the choice for the customer to select the level of attributes they want to include in their unit: Bare, Plus and Ultimate. There is also a low profile option, called “Ultimate Compact”, designed for applications with height restrictions. The portfolio was designed for low and medium temperature applications up to 1 ½ HP, using R404A or R134a, or the new replacement refrigerants (R448A, R449A, R513A).

Improved quality and robustness

The sturdiness of this new condensing units portfolio comes from the following differentials:

●       Painted coils

●       Condenser coil protection

●       More robust packaging

●       Factory-charged nitrogen holding

●       Designed for 110°F ambient temperature

Ease of service

Everything in the new portfolio was thought to facilitate installation, maintenance and parts replacement. Ease of service is guaranteed by the following features:

●       Wiring follows National Electrical Code (NEC)

●       Standard electrical connections

●       All units comply with UL requirements

●       Components commonly found in the replacement market

Webinar on condensing units

This launch is accompanied by a free webinar for refrigeration professionals, offering a deep dive into the benefits, functionalities and maintenance of condensing units in general and the second generation portfolio specifically. It will be conducted by Johari Gregrorio, Application Engineer at Nidec Global Appliance, where he is responsible for the Technical Support of Embraco portfolio for North America. The date is March 3rd, at 2 PM (EST). You can register here.

Dedicated structure

This launch comes after Nidec Global Appliance reorganized its market approach into three business units (BU), each dedicated to a specific market segment: Home Appliances, Commercial Appliances, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) components. The Commercial Appliances BU is dedicated to the Embraco brand portfolio counting also on a specific structure focused on development and production of condensing and sealed units. Nidec Global Appliance counts on two manufacturing plants of condensing units, one in Slovakia and another in Brazil.
