Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems (MHI Thermal Systems) has redesigned its centralized remote controller for air conditioning systems in medium and large-scale facilities. The new SC-SL5-E for global markets and SC-SL5 for Japan will be launched sequentially worldwide.
The SL5 features a 10.4-inch capacitive touch panel, compared with the previous model’s 9-inch LCD screen. The controller’s depth has also been reduced from 90 mm (3.54 in) to 50 mm (1.97 in), and the interface uses a monochrome design.
The controller can connect up to 256 devices, including air conditioning equipment and commercial heat pump products. It allows users to centrally monitor and control operating status and settings for multiple units and provides a mapped overview of facility operations. For indoor units, connections use SUPERLINK, MHI’s proprietary air-conditioner communication protocol.
The SL5 adds a new “Floor” classification alongside the existing “Block” and “Group” settings. Blocks can be configured for communal areas such as elevator lobbies, Groups for individual offices and meeting rooms, and Floors for each floor of a building, enabling controls to be organized according to the facility layout.
MHI Thermal Systems said the controller’s centralized management capabilities are intended to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the workload associated with routine facility management.
