Schmitz Cargobull presents new items

Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated box semi-trailer – 100 % SMART ex works

Following the motto “100 % SMART”, Schmitz Cargobull will now be equipping all S.KO COOL reefer semi-trailers with a telematics system as standard. The new benchmark for refrigerated transport is driving the digital transformation in the transport industry. The standard telematics equipment creates a strong foundation for optimum control over an interconnected, integrated logistics chain, thereby helping to boost efficiency and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO). The launch of the new generation of telematics hardware also coincided with the introduction of the TrailerConnect Portal 2.0 and the free beSmart app.

Premiere of the V.KO COOL

With the V.KO COOL, Schmitz Cargobull Van Bodies now offers a solution for transporter box bodies for fresh and frozen cargo. The pre-assembled kit, which includes a built-in refrigeration unit, is made of light, robust STRATOPLAST panels in wall thicknesses of 70 mm – 85 mm. These panels help to prevent moisture from penetrating the exterior wall, forming condensation and, as a result, reducing the payload. The STRATOPLAST panels are also equipped with foamed vapour diffusion blocks made from metal composites, which can be flexibly adapted to suit the load. The streamlined total weight of just 600 kg has a positive impact on the payload. The construction time for the V.KO COOL is just 6 hours.

New solutions for refrigerated transport

The S.KO COOL reefer semi-trailer will be presented in a new form at this year’s IAA Commercial Vehicles Show. With the complete solution consisting of the enhanced refrigerated box body, the new S.CU refrigeration unit and the telematics system, transport companies receive an optimised complete package for refrigerated logistics.

Visually it's easy to see that a new S.KO COOL generation is about to make its début. It has been developed further, tidied up and given a distinctive new look. The front section has had a complete face lift. The protected area of the bulkhead has been extended further upwards, so as to avoid damage during coupling. Furthermore, the insulation capacity of the bulkhead has been increased further through the optimisation of many details. The new side guard is the most telling sign that another generational change has taken place.

New Schmitz Cargobull S.CU transport refrigeration unit

Another new feature is the in-house refrigeration unit, the S.CU, which is equipped with the latest common rail diesel motor. The new refrigeration unit generation offers the same high cooling performance and precise temperature management, but reduces fuel consumption by up to 10%. The weight has also been reduced by 50 kg. The S.CU refrigeration unit complies with the Stage V emission standard, which comes into force in January 2019. This significantly reduces the environmental impact.Through the optimum interface design of refrigeration unit and improved air circulation, operators can achieve even more consistent temperature distribution in the cargo area. Thanks to the new display design, the large digits make it easy to read and improve its user-friendliness. As an alternative to the display, all functions of the S.CS and telematics system can be controlled via a smartphone. In the TCO (total cost of ownership) calculation the refrigeration unit is a critical factor.

New Schmitz Cargobull S.CU transport refrigeration unit to make its debut

Schmitz Cargobull has enhanced its own refrigeration unit and equipped it with a modern common rail diesel motor. The new Schmitz Cargobull Cooling Unit (S.CU) refrigeration unit generation offers the same high cooling performance and precise temperature management whilereducing fuel consumption by up to 10%, which has a positive effect on the customer's overall operating costs (total cost of ownership).

The latest motor technology with a maximum drive power of 19kW and the optimisation of the Silence Kit has enabled the noise emission to be reduced still further, which is of particular benefit to the driver. In addition, the weight of the new S.CU refrigeration unit has been reduced by 50 kg. The new machine is available in both MonoTemp and MultiTemp versions.

The display on the S.CU has been reworked to meet customer requirements. For example, the presentation of the current temperatures on the new initial screen has been enlarged for better readability. Of course, the previous, comprehensive display can continue to be selected, specifically for service workshops. The menu navigation has been completely overhauled and provided with easily understandable icons (similar to the SmartTrailer). At the customer’s request, this software adaptation can also be refitted to existing assets.

The current refrigeration unit with the tried-and-tested prechamber engine also complies with the new Stage V emission regulations, which come into force in January 2019. As a performance-adapted variant specifically for markets with low fuel qualities, this refrigeration unit will be available solely in the MonoTemp version.

The Schmitz Cargobull transport refrigeration unit is one of the best performing cooling units on the market. Since its market launch in 2013, Schmitz Cargobull has already sold over 7,500 units to date.
