Cold chain expansion, electric vehicles and demand for synthetic lubricants are expected to support growth through 2035.

SNS Insider forecasts refrigeration oil market at USD 2.33 billion by 2035

The global refrigeration oil market is expected to grow from USD 1.45 billion in 2025 to USD 2.33 billion by 2035, according to SNS Insider. The research firm forecasts a CAGR of 4.86% from 2026 to 2035, citing expansion of cold chain infrastructure and electric vehicle adoption among demand drivers.

Synthetic oils accounted for approximately 48% of the market in 2025, supported by their thermal stability, lubricity, lower volatility and compatibility with HFC and HFO refrigerants. Refrigerators represented the largest application segment at about 32%, amid demand for food preservation and expansion of cold chain infrastructure.

Asia Pacific held around 39% of the global market in 2025, with China contributing about 41% of regional revenues. North America is forecast to be the fastest-growing region during the forecast period, supported by refrigeration and air conditioning infrastructure, cold chain logistics and the automotive industry.

The U.S. refrigeration oil market is forecast to increase from around USD 0.26 billion in 2025 to USD 0.48 billion in 2035, representing a CAGR of 6.25%. Europe is projected to grow from USD 0.38 billion to USD 0.59 billion over the same period, with SNS Insider citing environmental regulations and EU greenhouse gas reduction targets as factors influencing the use of ecological refrigerants and oils.

The report also highlights demand associated with electric vehicles for special compressor and synthetic oils designed to operate under higher stress, wider temperature ranges and more demanding electrical conductivity conditions than conventional automotive AC systems.
