Daikin Applied acquires US-based Chilldyne to expand data center cooling portfolio

Daikin Applied acquires US-based Chilldyne to expand data center cooling portfolio

Daikin Applied Americas has acquired Chilldyne, a US company specializing in negative pressure liquid cooling systems for high-performance and AI data centers. The acquisition enhances Daikin Applied’s data center offerings with direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology, aiming to meet the growing demand for high-efficiency, resilient cooling in hyperscale and AI-driven environments.

Chilldyne’s patented liquid cooling distribution unit (CDU) uses a negative pressure system to deliver chip-level cooling through cold plates, designed to reduce leak risks compared to traditional liquid cooling systems. The technology supports efficient heat removal from GPUs while aiming to lower costs and protect critical hardware.

According to Daikin Applied, Chilldyne’s system simplifies installation, reduces hardware costs and downtime risks, and improves energy efficiency — benefits suited to data-intensive computing environments.

The acquisition follows Daikin Applied’s August 2025 purchase of DDC Solutions. Chilldyne’s liquid cooling technology has previously been integrated with DDC’s modular high-density cooling cabinets, providing a combined solution for high-density rack cooling.

“By acquiring Chilldyne, Daikin Applied is poised to deliver a comprehensive suite of data center cooling solutions that address the evolving needs of our customers and set a new standard for performance and uptime,” said Yu Nishiwaki, Chief Operating Officer, Daikin Applied Americas.

“Joining Daikin Applied allows us to rapidly scale our second-generation liquid cooling ecosystem to enable global data center adoption,” added Dr. Steve Harrington, CEO of Chilldyne.
