AREA Cooling Solutions is marking 40 years since its founding in 1986, highlighting four decades of supplying compressors, controls and refrigeration components to HVAC-R professionals. The company says its current focus includes energy efficiency, low-GWP refrigerants and natural refrigerants such as CO2 and R290.
Founded in Barcelona, Spain, AREA expanded into Poland in 1995 and launched Areacademy, its technical knowledge and support platform, in 2019. In 2024, AREA became part of IPCOM Group, a European group focused on energy efficiency solutions.
AREA provides compressors, controls, inverter drives, fans and other HVAC-R components for commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps and advanced cooling applications. Its portfolio supports refrigerants including A2L types, R290 and CO2, as well as R32, R513A, R455A, R454C, R410A, R134A, R448A and R454B.
The company supports OEMs and manufacturers with component selection, refrigerant compatibility and system optimization, while providing wholesalers, distributors, contractors and installers with product availability, documentation, spare parts and technical support. AREA says its logistics capabilities in Spain and Poland support customers across Europe.
AREA reports more than 1,200 catalog products, over 20,000 orders delivered during the past five years and more than 800 satisfied customers each year. Its multilingual team includes more than 30 colleagues, with 40% of employees holding an engineering degree.
As it marks the anniversary, AREA says its next stage will focus on better processes, stronger product availability, closer technical support and more responsive service.
AREA Cooling Solutions appointed Joan Monserrat as General Manager, effective June 1. Monserrat joined the company with experience in international management and the commercialization of technical products. The appointment supported AREA’s strategic roadmap and IPCOM’s ambition to become a leading force in the European HVACR market by 2030.
