As demand from exhibitors and visitors continues to grow, Chillventa is preparing a targeted expansion for its 2026 edition. In this interview, Daniela Heinkel, Head of Chillventa, explains the new hall layout, highlights the technology trends shaping the upcoming exhibition, and shares insights into the event’s increasingly international visitor profile.

Ri: You recently announced a new hall layout for Chillventa 2026. What new things can visitors expect because of this change?
Daniela Heinkel: The new hall layout builds on the proven structure that visitors and exhibitors are familiar with. Rather than a complete redesign, the existing concept remains largely intact, with some mirrored arrangements and the addition of Hall 1. This expansion responds to strong demand and ensures more space for exhibitors and innovations, while maintaining the intuitive orientation that has worked so well in previous editions. What really drove this change was the strong interest during the pre-booking phase: the existing space simply couldn’t accommodate new exhibitors or larger stands. To meet this demand, we’re introducing Hall 1, which opens growth opportunities across all segments. This new configuration not only creates space for expansion but also ensures shorter walking distances and a better overall experience for everyone attending.
Ri: What new technologies do you expect to see at the 2026 exhibition compared to the previous events, if you already have some ideas?
Daniela Heinkel: Chillventa is always a stage for future-oriented solutions. In 2026, visitors can expect to see technologies that make systems even more efficient, smarter, and more sustainable. For example, solutions using natural refrigerants, digital tools for predictive maintenance, or integrated concepts for energy management are likely to play a big role. But we also see strong momentum across all segments – from refrigeration and air conditioning to ventilation and heat pumps. Equally important, Chillventa is about connecting experts: the event provides a unique platform for networking and knowledge exchange, enabling professionals from around the world to share insights, discuss challenges, and collaborate on shaping the future of the HVACR industry.
Ri: What is the geography of Chillventa visitors today? Have you noticed any changes or new trends in where visitors come from in recent years?
Daniela Heinkel: Chillventa is the world's leading trade fair for refrigeration technology, covering the segments of air conditioning, ventilation, and heat pump technology. At the last edition, 57% of all visitors came from outside Germany, underlining its global relevance. The strongest international presence traditionally comes from Europe, the Top 5 countries being Italy, Austria, Netherlands, Poland and Czech Republic. But we are seeing growing participation from other continents such as Asia and North America as well. Equally important is the visitor profile: Chillventa attracts professionals from all key segments of the industry – from refrigeration and air conditioning to ventilation, heat pumps, and energy efficiency solutions. A remarkable feature is the high proportion of decision-makers: more than two-thirds of visitors are involved in purchasing decisions, making Chillventa a prime platform for business and networking.
This combination of international reach and a highly qualified audience ensures that Chillventa remains the leading meeting point for the global industry: Chillventa Connecting Experts.
Ri: Thank you for sharing your insights!
